Trained by Victor Ullate and internationally awarded, he has shone as a Principal Dancer at the American Ballet Theatre and as a guest star in prestigious companies around the world.

Ángel Corella, Artistic Director of Philadelphia Ballet and Principal Emeritus of Corella, has forged an impressive career in the world of classical ballet. He began his classical dance training at the age of ten with Victor Ullate and, in 1991, won First Prize in the Spanish National Ballet Competition, which enabled him to join Victor Ullate's Company.

In 1994, after being trained by Karemia Moreno, he received the Grand Prix and Gold Medal at the Paris International Dance Competition. In 1995, he joined the American Ballet Theatre as a Soloist, rising to Principal Dancer a year later. As a guest star, he has performed with the Royal Ballet of London, the Australian Ballet, La Scala of Milan, the Tokyo Ballet, the Chilean Ballet, the Hungarian Ballet and the Marinsky Ballet of St. Petersburg, among others.

In 2000, he was awarded the Benois de la Danse International Prize for his work in Jerome Robbins' "Other Dances". Throughout his career, he has performed all the major roles in the classical and neoclassical repertoire. He has danced in the premiere of the New York City Center's Fall Season, in an extraordinary gala of lyric and dance alongside Cecilia Bartoli and other outstanding sopranos.

On November 4, 2002, he was awarded the National Dance Prize in the category of Interpretation, in recognition of his exceptional performance and as a representative of a generation of outstanding Spanish artists in international companies. In October 2005, he returned to opera, dancing in "La danza de las Horas" with Leticia Giuliani in the opera "La Gioconda" at the Liceo in Barcelona and the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.

He has danced for personalities such as Queen Sofia, Princess Letizia, Infantas Elena and Cristina of Spain, Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret of England, as well as for U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush, and for U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama.

In 2005, he starred in an EMI Award-winning version of "Swan Lake" with Gillian Murphy, broadcast on PBS. Since 2006, he has been part of the show "Kings Of The Dance".

In 2001, together with his sister Carmen, he founded the Ángel Corella Foundation, with the aim of promoting classical dance in Spain.

In 2008, he launched one of his greatest projects: the Corella Ballet, which began its activity in La Granja (Segovia) and later moved to Barcelona. The company toured the main theaters in Spain and abroad, reaping success with each of its programs.

He received the International Medal of Arts of the Community of Madrid and the Star of Culture of Salamanca. In 2009, the committee of the Galileo Prize 2000 Foundation awarded him the Galileo Prize for his exceptional talent. In 2011, he received the Golden Microphone Award from the Spanish Press Association and the Ballet International Award for his professional career.

Currently, as Artistic Director of Philadelphia Ballet, he has turned the company into a reference for his technique and energy on stage. Angel keeps a close eye on the development of the students in Corella, helping many of them to start their professional careers with him, culminating their training with this perfect artistic springboard.

It is crucial to create a safe space where they can express themselves without fear of judgment. Actively listening and validating their emotions allows them to feel understood and supported, which is crucial for their emotional development.

Physical preparation for a dancer is essential to improve performance, avoid injury and sustain a long-lasting career. Dance requires strength, flexibility, endurance and control, so balanced training that includes several aspects is crucial.

It is a great privilege to have uniforms with our own designs and tailoring, and professional artistic costumes which allows a unique creative freedom, accurately reflecting our vision.
